Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. You have successfully identified the key trends for sodium, saturated fat, and sugar across the four meal types. However, the overview is slightly confusing; stating that 'the number of consumers mostly used three types of components at dinner' is inaccurate, as the charts show percentages of nutrients, not the number of consumers. Additionally, some data points are presented in a way that is slightly difficult to follow. To improve, ensure your overview clearly summarizes the most significant trends rather than focusing on the 'number of consumers', and double-check that your data descriptions accurately reflect the units provided in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices such as 'similarly', 'however', and 'nevertheless' to connect your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly misused, such as the transition 'nevertheless' when introducing the sugar data, which does not contrast with the previous sentence in a logical way. The referencing is also occasionally unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the phrasing is repetitive. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the data clearly. You use terms like 'proportion', 'utilized', and 'components' effectively. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'less usages', 'highest usages component', and 'sugar had been added on dinner'. These errors occasionally make the text sound unnatural. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding the repetition of words like 'usage' or 'utilized'. Expanding your range of descriptive verbs and nouns related to data reporting will also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'the ratio of ingredients is less usages at lunch' and 'consumers were mostly used it'. These errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement and passive voice construction, occur throughout the text. While they do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they do indicate a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice will help improve your accuracy and overall grammatical range.
