Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across the four meal categories. You have successfully selected and reported the key data points, such as the high consumption of sodium and saturated fat at dinner and the peak of added sugar at snacks. However, the analysis could be improved by making more direct comparisons between the nutrients rather than listing them category by category. For instance, noting that sugar consumption at snacks (42%) is significantly higher than the other two nutrients in that same category would strengthen the analytical quality of the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each nutrient, and a summary. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'In lunch', 'In dinner', 'In breakfast'). To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to connect sentences more fluidly, such as 'Conversely', 'In contrast', or 'Regarding the consumption of...'. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between sentences could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'nutrients', 'consumed', and 'proportions'. However, there are several spelling errors ('satrurated', 'snaks', 'euallly', 'breakfat', 'conterery') and some awkward phrasing ('three various type of nutrients'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do prevent the response from reaching a higher band. To improve, focus on accuracy in spelling and ensure that your word choices are precise and appropriate for an academic report.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('sodium and saturated fat is highly consumed') and missing articles ('in dinner' instead of 'at dinner'). Additionally, some sentences are slightly fragmented or poorly constructed, such as 'all these are may be unhealthy'. To reach a higher band, you need to increase the frequency of error-free sentences and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules, particularly verb forms and prepositions.
