The pie charts illustrate the average percentages of Sodium, Saturated Fats and Added Sugars in typical meals consumed in the USA. the units are given in proportions.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that dinner and snacks reached the highest percentage of sodium and saturated fat, while breakfast recorded the smallest figure.

Moreover, dinner and snacks had the narrowest gap at 21% and 23 %. snacks and breakfast levels in sodium were broadly similar, representing 14% each, respectively.
By contrast dinner in saturated fat stood at 37%, it was less than 11 percentage points lunch of same nutrient, which occupied 26%. Furthermore, the largest disparity can be observed between snacks in added sugar and breakfast in sodium represented 42% and 14%. it is worth highlighting that snacks added sugar and saturated was half of attributing 21% and 42%.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response provides a clear overview and identifies key features, such as the dominance of dinner and snacks in sodium and saturated fat. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and occasionally confusing. For example, the statement 'it was 1 percentage points higher than snacks in added sugar' is unclear, and the comparison between 'snacks in added sugar and breakfast in sodium' is a forced comparison that does not add analytical value. While the main features are selected, the lack of precision in describing the relationships between the categories prevents a higher score. The response covers all parts of the prompt but lacks the analytical depth required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'By contrast'. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and mechanical transitions. For instance, the sentence 'it is worth highlighting that snacks added sugar and saturated was half of attributing 21% and 42%' is syntactically disjointed and difficult to follow. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it hard for the reader to track which nutrient is being discussed in relation to which meal. Paragraphing is present, but the internal cohesion within the paragraphs needs improvement.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, using terms like 'proportions', 'disparity', and 'nutrient'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and awkward collocations, such as 'reached the highest percentage' (instead of 'accounted for the highest proportion') and 'smallest figure' (when referring to a percentage). There are also minor errors in word form, such as 'snacks added sugar and saturated was half of attributing'. The range is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with punctuation and sentence boundaries. For example, comma splices are common, such as 'accounted for 43% of the total, it was 1 percentage points higher'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and missing articles, such as 'lunch of same nutrient'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to limit the score. A greater focus on proofreading for basic sentence structure and punctuation would significantly improve the clarity of the writing.
