Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response covers all three nutrients and identifies the main features, such as dinner being the primary source of sodium and saturated fats, and snacks being the highest for added sugars. However, the report lacks a clear, cohesive overview of the data trends. While the key figures are mentioned, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a sophisticated comparison between the categories. The summary at the end is helpful, but the overall development of the information is basic. To improve, ensure that the data is grouped more logically to highlight the most significant differences rather than just listing percentages for each meal type.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Regarding, sodium makes up...' is grammatically awkward, and the use of 'secondly higher' and 'also near by' disrupts the flow of information. Paragraphing is present, but the logical progression between sentences is sometimes weak, making the text feel like a list of statistics rather than a cohesive report. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring they are used correctly would significantly enhance the readability of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several spelling errors, such as 'cantains', 'nutreiuns', 'differats', and 'snakes' (instead of snacks). The range of vocabulary is limited, relying heavily on basic terms like 'highest', 'percentage', and 'consume'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied reporting verbs and nouns, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'predominate', or 'a significant proportion'. Additionally, careful proofreading is necessary to eliminate basic spelling mistakes that distract from the content.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Issues include incorrect article usage ('the largest number of percentage'), subject-verb agreement ('snakes are highest porportion'), and awkward phrasing ('dinner contributes the highest 43% percentage'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several sentence fragments and misused commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
