Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the charts. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial and lacks precision. For instance, you mention that dinner has higher percentages but do not provide specific data points to support this, which is a key requirement for Task 1. Furthermore, the statement that dinner meals are 'more balanced' is an interpretation not supported by the data, which only shows the percentage of nutrients, not the overall nutritional balance. To improve, ensure you include specific figures from the charts to substantiate your comparisons and avoid subjective conclusions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'As depicted by the diagram' and 'Similar is the case'. The flow between sentences is occasionally disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel a bit stilted. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each sentence connects smoothly to the next, rather than relying on a repetitive template for introducing information.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'higher' and 'less' repeatedly. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'have a detail look' (should be 'take a detailed look') and 'other time meal' (should be 'other meal times'). To improve, incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'significant', 'surpass', or 'account for', and ensure you use the correct word forms to convey your meaning accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles ('as shown in first diagram'), incorrect pluralization ('Snacks contains'), and punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to affect the overall clarity of the writing. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles will significantly improve the accuracy of your sentences.
