Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the three charts. You have identified the key trends, such as dinner being the primary source of sodium and saturated fat, and snacks being the main source of added sugar. Comparisons are made effectively between the categories. However, the overview could be slightly more refined; while you mention the main trends, ensuring the distinction between the nutrients is crystal clear helps the reader. You have covered all parts of the prompt well, and the data selection is accurate and relevant to the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use cohesive devices such as 'In contrast', 'To begin with', and 'However' to link your points effectively. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different nutrients. To improve further, ensure that referencing is precise; for example, in the second paragraph, 'a similar pattern is seen is saturated fat' would be better linked with a more formal transition like 'A similar pattern is observed regarding saturated fat'. Overall, the flow of information is coherent and well-structured.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information clearly. Terms like 'proportion', 'consumption', 'records the highest', and 'moderate' are used appropriately. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'dinner contain' (should be 'contains') and 'added sugar mainly consumed' (should be 'is mainly consumed'). While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise academic collocations would elevate the response. You have successfully avoided repetition by using synonyms like 'share', 'proportion', and 'ratio' to describe the data points.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. For instance, subject-verb agreement issues are present: 'dinner contain' instead of 'contains', 'breakfast account' instead of 'accounts', and 'breakfast and snacks has' instead of 'have'. Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'a similar pattern is seen is saturated fat' (missing 'in'). Despite these errors, they do not impede communication, and you show a good attempt at using varied sentence structures to report the data.
