Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to adequately summarize the data. While it mentions the three nutrients, it does not provide a clear overview or highlight the most significant trends. The analysis is fragmented and lacks a logical structure, focusing on irrelevant personal opinions about health and diseases rather than reporting the data from the charts. The description of the figures is inaccurate and lacks precision; for instance, the claim that snacks are eaten in 'brunch' is not supported by the provided charts. To improve, you must focus strictly on describing the data presented, comparing the highest and lowest values across the four meal categories, and avoiding external commentary or medical advice.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response lacks a clear logical progression. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore', they are used mechanically and do not effectively link the ideas. The paragraphing is insufficient, as the entire response is essentially one block of text. The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different nutrients and meal types. To improve, ensure each paragraph has a clear focus and use linking words to connect sentences in a way that guides the reader through the data logically.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. There are several spelling errors, such as 'colestrol' and 'nutrietion', and word choice issues, such as 'consumes to much sugar' instead of 'contains'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to describe trends or data points precisely. You rely on basic, repetitive language that does not demonstrate the ability to use less common lexical items or precise collocations. To improve, focus on learning specific vocabulary for describing charts, such as 'proportion', 'significant', 'account for', and 'fluctuate', and pay closer attention to spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement ('these three graphs determines'), incorrect preposition use, and awkward sentence structures ('healthy diet creates a crucial role for our human beings'). The range of structures is limited, and the attempts at complex sentences are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree, and practicing the correct use of articles and prepositions. Reviewing basic grammar rules will help reduce the frequency of these errors.
