Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses the task by identifying the main features of the charts and providing relevant comparisons. You have correctly highlighted the key trends, such as snacks being the primary source of sugar and dinner being the highest for sodium and fat. The overview is clear and provides a good summary of the data. To reach a higher band, ensure that all data points are described with complete accuracy; for instance, you mentioned 'almost a half' for 43%, which is acceptable, but ensure your comparisons are consistently precise throughout the report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group the nutrients effectively. You use cohesive devices such as 'As regards' and 'while' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing could be smoother. For example, the phrase 'lunch is second again' is a bit informal. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that the progression between sentences is more fluid would help elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'nutrients', 'proportion', and 'fraction' appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'least number is breakfast' (where 'lowest figure' would be more precise) and 'nutrients structures'. Additionally, there is a minor error with 'it's' (possessive 'its' is required). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'a significant proportion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'the biggest amount of sugar are consumed' (subject-verb agreement error: 'amount' is singular) and 'the breakfast portion is equal to it's fat'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To achieve a higher score, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of apostrophes. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures, such as using passive voice more consistently for data reporting, would also be beneficial.
