Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three nutrients across the four meal times. You successfully highlight the key trends, such as sodium and saturated fat peaking at dinner and added sugar peaking during snacks. However, the reporting of data is occasionally imprecise or awkward, such as 'The 43 percentage of sodium' and 'The lowest 16 proportion of saturated fat'. While the main features are clear, the comparison could be more sophisticated by grouping the data more effectively rather than listing figures for each nutrient separately. Overall, the response provides a clear overview and sufficient supporting data to meet the requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into an introduction, an overview, and two body paragraphs. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from a general summary to specific nutrient details. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to link sentences. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally repetitive. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different nutrients, which helps the reader follow the analysis. To improve, try to vary the cohesive devices and ensure that the flow between sentences is more natural rather than relying on simple additive connectors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'illustrate', 'proportion', 'consumed', and 'recorded'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'the figure is reduced at lunch time with 29 proportion' and 'the share of added sugar is fell'. These errors occasionally distract the reader but do not impede communication. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing when describing data trends. Expanding your range of reporting verbs and nouns would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('The 43 percentage'), word order, and verb tense/form ('the share of added sugar is fell'). Some sentences are slightly clunky, such as 'the figure of saturated fat is recorded from 26% during lunch to 21% at snacks'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the data, they indicate a lack of control over complex structures. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences will help improve this score.
