Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have attempted to identify some main features, such as the high proportions of sodium and saturated fat at dinner, the analysis is incomplete. You have omitted the data for added sugar entirely and failed to provide a comprehensive comparison across all meal types. The overview provided is vague and lacks the necessary detail to clearly summarize the information presented in the charts. To improve, ensure you cover all categories and provide a more thorough comparison of the data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The organization of the response is disjointed. While there is a basic attempt at paragraphing, the logical progression of ideas is weak. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'is higher' and 'is second'. There is a lack of clear referencing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the different nutrients and meal times. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear focus, moving logically from one nutrient to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'higher', 'proportion', and 'contain' throughout the text. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'average ratio in often nutrients' and 'in the stage', which are not natural English expressions. The vocabulary used is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To achieve a higher band, focus on using more varied and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'a significant portion', or 'the largest share'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'pie charts claimed', 'breakfast contain'), missing articles, and awkward sentence structures (e.g., 'is consuming percentage is higher'). The range of grammatical structures is very limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of articles and prepositions.
