Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the charts and made relevant comparisons, the analysis is somewhat mechanical. You successfully highlighted the peak values for each nutrient, such as saturated fat in dinner (37%) and added sugar in snacks (42%). However, the overview is slightly underdeveloped and lacks a more sophisticated synthesis of the data. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive summary that captures the broader trends rather than just listing percentages, and ensure you meet the minimum length requirement to avoid a penalty.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into three paragraphs, which is a logical structure for a report. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'Furthermore' and 'In last' are used to connect ideas, but the flow between sentences feels a bit disjointed. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second sentence where 'in that case' is used vaguely. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally into the next by using more sophisticated transition signals and better pronoun referencing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on simple verbs like 'consumed', 'took', and 'represents'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'sharply at high level' and 'in case nutrients'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and data points. For example, instead of saying 'consumed', you could use 'accounted for' or 'constituted'. Additionally, focus on using more precise adjectives and adverbs to describe the data, such as 'predominant', 'significant', or 'proportionately'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There are several grammatical errors throughout the text that affect the clarity of your writing. For instance, 'The charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement error), 'not good for body' (missing article), and 'these have only few difference' (incorrect phrasing). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often marred by errors. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and pluralization. Practicing the construction of complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions will also help you demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
