The pie charts illustrate the average percentages of three nutrients sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar in four typical meals consumed in the USA, all of which may contribute to health problems if eaten in excessive amounts.
Overall, dinner contains the highest proportion of both sodium and saturated fat, whereas snacks account for the largest percentage of added sugar. In contrast, breakfast generally has the lowest proportions of all three nutrients.

A similar pattern can be seen for saturated fat. Dinner again has the highest percentage, at 37%, while snacks make up 21%. Lunch accounts for 26%, and breakfast contains the smallest proportion, at 16%.
In terms of added sugar, snacks contribute by far the highest percentage, at 42%, which is almost double that of dinner (23%). Lunch accounts for 19%, while breakfast once again records the lowest figure, at 16%.
