Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all three nutrients and identifies the main features, such as the highest and lowest proportions for each. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a cohesive overview of the data. While the key trends are mentioned, the comparison between categories is occasionally confusing, such as the statement 'Breakfast and snacks is approximately similar in sodium'. The report would benefit from a more integrated approach to comparing the data rather than listing the figures for each category in isolation. The summary is present but could be more effectively synthesized to highlight the most significant differences across the meals.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often repetitive and sometimes inaccurate, such as the frequent use of 'which was a' or 'followed'. The progression of ideas is logical, but the transitions between sentences feel mechanical rather than fluid. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect the data points more naturally. The overall arrangement is coherent, but the flow is hindered by the repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'highest category area', 'small category followed', and 'lowest proportion followed' are awkward and indicate a limited range of lexical items. There are also spelling errors, such as 'avarage' instead of 'average'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'accounted for', 'constituted', or 'represented', and avoid repeating the same sentence patterns. The current range is sufficient to convey the meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie charts illustrates'), incorrect article usage ('in breakfast was least proportion'), and awkward phrasing ('all of this which may be'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. The punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence construction is often clunky. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and refining the use of articles and prepositions in data-driven descriptions.
