Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have identified the main features of the charts, the analysis is quite brief and lacks the depth required for a higher band. You have successfully selected key data points for each meal type, but the summary is underdeveloped. To improve, ensure you provide a more comprehensive overview and extend your comparisons between the nutrient categories across the different meals. The under-length nature of the response means that the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is somewhat mechanical. The use of cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'Further' is present but feels repetitive. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of ideas smoothly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are several spelling errors, such as 'propotion' (proportion), 'prons' (prone), 'mosly' (mostly), and 'counsume' (consume). Additionally, some word choices are awkward, such as '43% citizen prefer to eat sodium'. Using 'citizen' in this context is inaccurate; 'percentage of the population' or 'proportion of intake' would be more appropriate. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise terms for describing data trends will help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'sodium and sugars leading the most consumed meals', which lacks a main verb, and 'Notwithstanding of the fact that', which is an incorrect collocation. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To reach a higher band, you need to focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions. Increasing the variety of error-free complex sentences will also be essential for improvement.
