Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to summarize the charts, but it fails to provide a clear overview or highlight significant trends. The information is presented as a list of data points rather than a cohesive report. For example, the description of sodium levels is fragmented and lacks comparative analysis. Furthermore, the response introduces external information not present in the charts, such as 'cane sugar', 'corn syrup', and 'agave nectar', which misrepresents the data provided. The lack of a clear summary of the main features and the inclusion of inaccurate details significantly hinder the task achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks logical organization and progression. While there is an attempt to group information by 'stages', the paragraphs are poorly structured and do not flow logically. The use of cohesive devices is repetitive and mechanical, such as the constant use of 'after that' and 'lastly'. There is no clear paragraphing strategy, and the transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is abrupt. The referencing is also unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the three nutrients across the different meal types.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very limited and repetitive. The student frequently uses the word 'rate' or 'proportion' incorrectly to describe percentages. There is a lack of variety in reporting verbs or comparative language. Additionally, the student uses inaccurate terminology, such as 'cane sugar' and 'agave nectar', which are not supported by the prompt. The phrasing is often unnatural, such as '14 rate snacks of sodium', which impedes clarity. To improve, the student needs to focus on using precise mathematical vocabulary and avoiding the invention of data.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting mostly of simple, fragmented sentences. There are frequent errors in sentence structure, punctuation, and word order. For instance, 'Sodium 43 rate breakfast after that 29 proportion lunch' lacks a verb and proper syntax. The misuse of commas and the lack of capital letters in some places further detract from the quality of the writing. There is no evidence of complex sentence structures, and the frequent grammatical errors make the text difficult to read and understand.
