Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some main features, the analysis is incomplete. The final paragraph is cut off mid-sentence, leaving the data for snacks and lunch regarding saturated fats unstated. Furthermore, the summary lacks a clear comparison of all three nutrients across all meal types. To improve, you must ensure all data points are covered and the response reaches the required length to allow for a full, well-developed summary of the provided charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response is organised into paragraphs, and there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Furthermore', and 'In addition'. However, the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the abrupt ending disrupts the flow of information. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that cohesive devices are used to link ideas smoothly rather than just acting as mechanical signposts at the start of sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally repetitive and limited. Phrases like 'showed the highest proportion' and 'consist' are used repeatedly. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'taken it over' instead of 'consumed in excess' and 'saturated fat contain the larger amount of added sugar', which is factually confusing based on the chart data. To improve, try to use a wider range of synonyms for 'increase', 'decrease', and 'proportion', and focus on using precise terminology to describe data trends accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'was showed' (passive voice error), 'breakfast consist least' (subject-verb agreement), and 'was indicates' (incorrect verb form). The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the attempt at complex structures is often faulty. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of passive voice for describing data. Proofreading for tense consistency is also essential, as the response shifts inconsistently between past and present tenses.
