Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which negatively impacts the score. While the report attempts to cover the main features of the charts, the data presentation is often inaccurate or confusing. For instance, the description of sodium and saturated fat percentages is inconsistent with the provided charts, and the summary of added sugar is unclear. The overview is present but lacks precision. To improve, ensure all data points are accurately transcribed and that the overview highlights the most significant trends rather than listing individual figures. The under-length penalty is applied here as the response is 141 words.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. Transitions such as 'Besides that' and 'Next' are used, but they feel mechanical and do not always connect ideas effectively. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between the three nutrients. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the report.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'was boost' instead of 'peaked' or 'was highest', and 'not healthy' instead of 'unhealthy'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Spelling errors, such as 'illutrates' and 'populaton', also detract from the overall quality. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and proofreading for common spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'sodium and saturated fat was showed' and 'dinner consist of'. There are also errors in sentence structure, such as 'The pie charts illutrates, how the proportion...'. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, they are often faulty. The punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
