Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying key trends such as the high sodium content in dinner and the high added sugar content in snacks. However, the report lacks precision in data presentation. For instance, the statement 'sodium show the similar trend in breakfast also in snacks' is inaccurate, as the percentages differ significantly (14% vs 43%). Furthermore, the description of the data is somewhat disjointed, and the comparison between the three nutrients across the four meals is not fully developed. To improve, ensure that data points are cited accurately and that comparisons are made more logically to provide a clearer overview of the information provided in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or awkward, such as 'Fleeting a glance' and 'Moving ahead'. The progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by grammatical errors and unclear referencing, making the flow feel disjointed. While there is an attempt to group information by meal, the transitions between sentences are not always smooth. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider range of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, unified focus that connects logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice, such as 'The given three pair of pie chart' and 'The data has been calibrated in percentage'. The range is somewhat limited, relying on basic descriptors. To improve, you should aim to use more precise terminology for describing data, such as 'proportion', 'constitute', or 'account for', and avoid repetitive phrasing. Additionally, ensure that you use correct collocations when discussing statistical information.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'sodium show', 'three pair of pie chart represents'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and the correct use of articles before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
