The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The chart below shows the average percentages of three types of vitamins in a particular meal, some of which may be unhealthy if consumed in excess.

First and foremost, dinner accounts for the largest proportion of sodium and saturated fat consumption, meanwhile snacks are responsible for the highest percentage of added sugar. Moreover, breakfast consistently represent the smallest or one of the smallest proportion across the three vitamins.

On the other hand, Sodium makes the largest share at 43% followed by lunch at 29%. Breakfast and snacks each carry 14%. Similarly, a pattern can be seen for saturated with dinner again contributing the highest proportion at 37%, while lunch represent 26%, snacks 21% and the final one breakfast only 16%.

The figures for added sugar are somewhat different. Snacks constitute the largest proportion, at 42%, which is almost twice the figure for dinner, at 23%. Lunch accounts for 19%, while breakfast has the lowest proportion, at 16%. Thus, although dinner is the main source of sodium and saturated fat, snacks are by far the biggest contributor to added sugar consumption.
