The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.0)

The pie charts shows the consumption of sodium, saturated fat and added sugar during different meals of the day in the USA. At a glance, sodium and added sugar were highly consumed in dinner and snacks respectively.

To begin with, sodium was consumed largely (43%) during dinner time. Equal amount of sodium which was 14% was eaten in breakfast and snacks. Lunch consisted of 29% of sodium. On the other hand, same quantity of saturated fat and added sugar that accounted for 16% was consumed during breakfast. Also, 21% of saturated fat and 42% of added sugars were eaten during snacks. In lunch, saturated fat was consumed which was just above a quarter. Surprisingly, 37% of saturated fat and 23% of added sugar were consumed during dinner.

In conclusion, all the three types of nutrients were almost equally consumed in breakfast. However, highest quantity of added sugar was consumed in snacks.
