Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you successfully identified the main features and provided some comparisons, the final sentence is incomplete and trails off, leaving the analysis unfinished. To improve, ensure you provide a complete summary of all data points and reach the required length. The overview is clear, but the lack of completion in the final paragraph prevents a higher score. You must ensure all parts of the task are fully developed and that the response is of sufficient length to allow for a full demonstration of your ability.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Overall', 'Additionally', and 'While'. However, the flow is interrupted by the incomplete final sentence, which leaves the reader hanging. The progression of ideas is generally logical, but the mechanical nature of some transitions and the abrupt ending hinder the overall coherence. To improve, focus on ensuring that each paragraph is fully formed and that your concluding thoughts are clearly articulated rather than cut off mid-sentence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'consumed', and 'nutrients' correctly. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are minor issues with word choice and phrasing, such as 'when having breakfast' and 'citizens consumed'. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the main points, but it lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms for 'consumed' and 'eaten' to avoid repetition and demonstrate a more sophisticated command of the language.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'when have breakfast' instead of 'when having breakfast' and the incomplete sentence at the end. Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure in the final paragraph is faulty. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensuring that all sentences are grammatically complete. Proofreading your work for these types of errors before finishing would help improve your accuracy.
