Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you identify some main features, the analysis is incomplete; for instance, the final sentence regarding 'added sugar' is abruptly cut off, and the data for 'added sugar' is not fully reported. The overview is present but lacks sufficient detail to fully cover all parts of the task. To improve, ensure you provide a comprehensive summary of all three charts and meet the length requirement to allow for full development of the data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay lacks a clear logical structure. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the flow between sentences is disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'so after that', 'another one is'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of data across the three nutrients. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'highest percentage', 'contributing at', and 'different type of nutrients'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'data had been calibrated' and 'very lowest percentage'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'peak at', or 'a significant proportion'. Avoid repeating the same structures for every data point.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the dinner', 'in terms of meal'), verb tense consistency ('had been calibrated', 'had shown'), and punctuation. Sentence structures are mostly simple or repetitive, with limited attempts at complex sentences. The errors occasionally impede the flow of information. Focusing on basic sentence construction, correct article usage, and ensuring consistent verb tenses will help improve your accuracy. You should also practice combining simple sentences into more complex, accurate structures.
