Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, as it is only 103 words long. This significantly impacts the task achievement, as the analysis is incomplete and cuts off abruptly mid-sentence. While you have attempted to identify some main features, such as the high levels of sodium and saturated fat at dinner, the lack of completion means you have not fully addressed all parts of the task. To improve, you must ensure you provide a comprehensive overview and detailed comparisons for all categories (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) to reach the required length and depth.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and an overview. However, the abrupt ending severely disrupts the coherence of the response. Cohesive devices such as 'Overall' and 'Furthermore' are used, but they are somewhat mechanical. The paragraphing is insufficient due to the incomplete nature of the text. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that ideas flow logically from one to the next, avoiding sudden stops that leave the reader without a conclusion or a complete analysis of the data provided in the charts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with terms like 'illustrates', 'consumed', and 'nutrients' being appropriate for an academic report. However, the range is limited, and there is some repetition of basic verbs. There is also a spelling error ('Staes' instead of 'States'). To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary to describe trends and comparisons, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'predominate', and ensure greater precision in your word choices to avoid repetitive phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are noticeable grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'meals with... is consumed' should be 'are consumed'). Additionally, the incomplete sentence at the end ('Following') indicates a lack of control over sentence structure. To improve, focus on ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree and practice constructing more complex sentences accurately. Proofreading for basic errors like missing articles or incorrect verb forms will also help improve your overall accuracy.
