Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response adequately addresses the task by summarizing the main features of the provided charts, outlining the consumption of sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar across different meal types. However, it lacks a clear overview or concise comparison of the data, which could enhance the analysis. The concluding remarks should further reinforce key points of the analysis, as they currently appear somewhat disjointed. Overall, while the information is relevant, a more structured approach would improve clarity.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The overall coherence of the response needs improvement. Although the ideas are presented in a logical sequence, clear markers for comparison or contrast between the different nutrients could enhance the cohesion. The use of linking phrases, such as "in contrast" or "similarly," is limited, making it harder for the reader to follow the argument clearly. Furthermore, the use of commas and pauses could be optimized for better readability.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The lexical resource demonstrates a fairly adequate range of vocabulary related to the topic. However, some phrases are awkward or less common in an academic context, such as "being consume more" which should be "being consumed more." Terminology like "utilised" when speaking of food consumption is also somewhat formal. More varied and precise vocabulary could enrich the response, such as using 'high consumption' instead of 'more as compared to'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

Grammatical range and accuracy are limited in this response. Errors such as "consumed more" and incorrect verb forms undermine clarity. The phrases "pupils try to consume" should use a more general term like "people" and phrases such as "is considered as one of salts" lack grammatical structure. Simple sentence structures dominate; incorporating more complex sentences could show a greater grammatical range and help convey ideas more effectively.

Overall feedback

This response successfully identifies key data points from the charts and attempts a comparative analysis. However, improving structure and coherence would make your writing clearer. Focus on creating a strong introduction that outlines the key features and ensures that your sections transition smoothly. Additionally, enhance your vocabulary and grammatical accuracy by practicing complex sentences and precise word choice. Reading more academic texts might help you familiarize yourself with terms and structures used in similar contexts, allowing you to express your ideas more clearly and effectively.
