Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the ability to fully address the task. While you have identified some main features, such as the high sodium content in dinner and the sugar content in snacks, the analysis is incomplete. The response cuts off abruptly mid-sentence, failing to cover the saturated fats category or provide a comprehensive comparison of all nutrients across the four meal types. To improve, you must ensure you describe all data points provided in the charts and complete your analysis to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows a basic attempt at logical organization with an introduction and an overview. However, the abrupt ending and the incomplete sentence ('A similar pattern be seen for') disrupt the flow and coherence of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the lack of development makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. To improve, ensure that each paragraph is fully developed and that you use cohesive devices like 'furthermore' or 'in contrast' to link your comparisons more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally appropriate for the task, such as 'proportion', 'nutrients', and 'contributor'. However, the range is limited due to the brevity of the response. There are minor errors in capitalization, such as 'Average Proportion' and 'United State of America', which should be 'average proportion' and 'United States of America'. To achieve a higher band, you should incorporate more varied vocabulary related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'represent', and 'a significant portion'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are several grammatical errors that hinder the clarity of the writing. For example, 'Dinner contain' should be 'Dinner contains' (subject-verb agreement), and 'A similar pattern be seen' is grammatically incorrect and incomplete. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that you use passive voice correctly when describing data (e.g., 'can be seen'). Practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions to improve your grammatical range.
