Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, but the presentation of data is often confusing and inaccurate. For instance, the claim that 'the largest intake of Sodium are Dinner time 43%' is correct, but the subsequent comparisons are muddled. The student attempts to report data for all four meals and three nutrients, but the lack of clarity in grouping the information makes it difficult for the reader to follow the trends. Key comparisons, such as the contrast between nutrient intake across different meals, are present but lack precision. The summary is somewhat disjointed, and the data interpretation is occasionally inconsistent with the provided charts, leading to a lack of clear focus.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the overview and the detailed body paragraphs is abrupt, and the internal structure of the paragraphs is repetitive and confusing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In detail' and 'while', but they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, which hinders the flow of information. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly when comparing multiple data points in a single sentence. The overall arrangement of information lacks a clear strategy, making it difficult for the reader to synthesize the data provided in the charts.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors, such as 'tie up 16%' and 'second most food in take'. The student relies on basic terminology and struggles to use precise language to describe statistical trends or comparisons. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in collocation and word form prevent the response from reaching a higher band. The student would benefit from learning more academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'constitute', and 'fluctuate'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('the largest intake of Sodium are Dinner time'), punctuation errors, and awkward sentence structures. While there is an attempt to use complex sentences, these are often poorly constructed and contain errors that occasionally impede clarity. For example, the sentence 'While the least food for daily meals are the Breakfast time with the Sodium the lowest percentage 14% and tie up 16% the Saturated fats and Added sugar' is grammatically incoherent. The control over basic grammar is inconsistent, and the range of structures is limited.
