Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which severely limits the ability to provide a full overview or detailed comparisons. While you identified some main features, such as the high levels of sodium and saturated fat in dinner, the response is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence. To improve, you must ensure you cover all categories (sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar) across all meal types (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) and provide a complete summary that meets the length requirement. The current lack of completion prevents a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response attempts to use cohesive devices like 'Overall' and 'Firstly', but the logical flow is disrupted by the incomplete nature of the text. Paragraphing is present, but the abrupt ending makes it difficult to assess the overall progression of ideas. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the overview and the body paragraph is mechanical. To improve, focus on completing your sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, logical structure that guides the reader through the data points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and contains several errors in word formation and spelling, such as 'consumation' (consumption) and 'catergies' (categories). While you successfully use some topic-specific terms like 'nutrients', 'sodium', and 'saturated fat', the range is insufficient to demonstrate flexibility. The repetition of basic verbs like 'taken' also limits the quality of the writing. You should focus on using more precise verbs to describe data trends, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'represent', and ensure accurate spelling of key terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors that impede clarity, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The pie charts illustrates', 'dinner is take the biggest chunk') and incorrect preposition usage. The sentence structures are relatively simple, and the incomplete final sentence makes it impossible to evaluate your ability to construct complex sentences accurately. To improve, focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences are complete. Practice using a variety of sentence structures, but prioritize accuracy before attempting more complex forms.
