Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While you have attempted to report on the three nutrients, the data presentation is confusing and inaccurate. For instance, you mention '14 percentage of sodium' and '43% of dinner intake', but the relationship between the nutrients and the meal types is not clearly articulated. The summary lacks a clear overview of the main trends, and the data points are often presented in a way that makes it difficult for the reader to verify the information against the charts. To improve, ensure you provide a clear summary of the main features and use precise data points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay lacks a logical flow. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and often incorrectly, such as 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', which do not effectively link the data points. The referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult to follow which nutrient or meal type is being discussed. The lack of a clear structure and the repetitive nature of the phrasing hinder the overall coherence of the response. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would greatly enhance the readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'masses', 'folks', and 'eating', which are not appropriate for an academic report. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'talking sugar' instead of 'consuming sugar' or 'taking sodium'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to convey the information with precision. To achieve a higher band, you should focus on using more academic and precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'consumption', 'account for', and 'fluctuate'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Examples include '14 percentage of sodium eaten by masses as a snacks', which contains errors in article usage and pluralization. The sentence structures are often awkward and lack variety, relying heavily on simple or poorly constructed complex sentences. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and preposition usage, such as 'saturated fat consumed in particular meals by 26 percentage'. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, correct use of articles, and ensuring that your verb tenses are consistent when describing data.
