Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features and making relevant comparisons. You successfully highlighted the key trends, such as sodium peaking at dinner and added sugar being highest in snacks. However, the overview is slightly generic. To reach a higher band, ensure the overview synthesizes the data more effectively rather than just listing the highest points. For instance, noting the contrast between the relatively balanced breakfast and the more extreme nutrient concentrations in other meals would provide a stronger summary. The data is accurately reported, and the comparisons between the three nutrients across the four meal types are clear and well-supported by the provided figures.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs. You use cohesive devices such as 'In terms of totality', 'Whilst', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and the paragraphing could be more refined. For example, the third paragraph is quite short and could be better integrated with the fourth to improve the flow of information. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences, such as 'Snacks carries highest amount', lack proper subject-verb agreement, which slightly disrupts the cohesion of the sentence structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportions', 'hazardous', and 'excessive'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'readilty', 'excessesive', 'exclusinng', and 'comapred'. These errors are noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'a significant proportion'. The current vocabulary is sufficient to convey the meaning, but the spelling inaccuracies prevent a higher score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Snacks carries', 'dinner has most amount') and article usage (e.g., 'in the highest amount by 29%'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are instances where sentence boundaries are unclear, such as the fragment 'During breakfast Sodium. Saturated fats and Added sugar...'. These errors occur frequently but rarely impede the reader's understanding of the data.
