Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers all three nutrients and identifies the main features, such as the high consumption of sodium and saturated fat at dinner and sugar at snacks. However, the data reporting is inconsistent and contains inaccuracies. For instance, you state sodium and saturated fat were 43% and 37% at dinner, which is correct, but then you mention saturated fat at 16% for lunch, which contradicts the provided charts. The overview is present but lacks clarity due to these data errors. To improve, ensure that every figure cited is double-checked against the source material to avoid misrepresenting the data.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the logical flow is hindered by the inaccurate data reporting and some awkward transitions. Phrases like 'compared by saturated fat it is slightly low' are confusing and do not effectively link the ideas. While you use cohesive devices like 'Meanwhile' and 'Turning to', their usage is sometimes mechanical or grammatically incorrect. Improving the logical connection between sentences and ensuring that comparisons are clearly articulated would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision. You rely on basic verbs like 'consumed' and 'accounted for' throughout the text. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'in consuming of sodium' and 'on the snacks time'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate a wider range of synonyms for 'consumption' (e.g., 'intake', 'ingestion') and use more precise phrasing to describe trends and proportions, such as 'constitutes the largest share' or 'represents a significant portion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the response that occasionally impede clarity. Subject-verb agreement is a recurring issue, such as 'The pie charts illustrates' (should be 'illustrate') and 'Sodium and saturated fat was' (should be 'were'). Additionally, there are punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary comma after 'such as' and the inconsistent spacing around percentages. While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by these errors. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and proofreading for punctuation would help improve your accuracy.
