Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the charts. However, the analysis is repetitive and lacks a clear, analytical structure. While you identify the highest nutrients for each meal, the report lacks a cohesive comparison between the categories. For instance, you mention the same data points multiple times in different paragraphs, which hinders the clarity of the summary. To improve, focus on grouping the data logically—perhaps by nutrient type or by comparing the meals—rather than listing the same facts repeatedly. Ensure that all data points are clearly linked to the specific percentages shown in the charts to provide a more comprehensive overview.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is weak. There is significant repetition of information, particularly in the third and fourth paragraphs, which makes the text feel disjointed. Cohesive devices are used in a very mechanical and sometimes inaccurate way (e.g., 'after that added sugar also there', 'likewise'). The referencing is often unclear, and the flow between sentences is interrupted by the redundant restatement of facts. To improve, use a wider range of linking words to connect ideas logically and avoid repeating the same information in subsequent paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate. Phrases like 'three kind of nourishment' and 'unhygienic' are not appropriate in this context; 'nutrients' and 'unhealthy' would be more precise. There is also a lack of variety in reporting verbs and comparative language. You rely heavily on basic structures like 'is highest' or 'is at the top'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'predominate', or 'a significant proportion'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Dinner is contain', 'Lunch is accommodate'), article usage, and sentence structure (e.g., 'added sugar dominate in snacks which is highest'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction. Incorporating more complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, would also help demonstrate a wider grammatical range.
