Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the highest and lowest proportions for each nutrient. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, analytical overview. While you have attempted to compare the data, the presentation is hampered by significant inaccuracies in reporting the figures (e.g., stating '14% of sodium and breakfast' which is unclear). The summary of the data is present, but the lack of clarity in how the percentages are linked to the specific meals makes it difficult for the reader to follow the trends effectively. To improve, focus on grouping the data more logically and ensuring that the figures cited are clearly linked to the correct categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive or misused, such as the awkward transition 'In breakfast time people eaten...'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult to distinguish between the different nutrients and meals being discussed. The logical flow is interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, which forces the reader to re-read sentences to understand the intended meaning. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring clear subject-verb agreement would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on basic terms like 'people', 'consumed', and 'proportion'. There are several spelling errors, such as 'soudium', 'beakfast', 'saturatted', and 'sancks', which distract the reader. Furthermore, word choice is often imprecise, such as using 'eaten' instead of 'consumed' or 'accounted for' in a way that does not fit the context. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider variety of synonyms and ensure that you are using technical terms correctly. Focusing on accurate spelling and more precise collocations will help improve your score in this area.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with verb tense and form, such as 'people eaten' instead of 'people consume' or 'people consumed'. Sentence structures are generally simple and often contain errors in basic syntax, such as 'The highest eaten meals was in sodium dinner'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, and there is a lack of complex sentence structures. To improve, you need to focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and sentence construction before attempting more complex structures. Proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms is essential.
