Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the task by identifying key trends, such as the high consumption of nutrients at dinner. However, the analysis is hampered by significant inaccuracies in data reporting. For instance, the claim that 'saturated fat and added sugar intake in the earlier breakfast were same number' is not supported by the charts, and the description of percentages is often confusing or contradictory. While the main features are highlighted, the lack of precision in interpreting the data prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure that every figure cited is accurately reflected from the source material and avoid making generalizations that the data does not support.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is frequently mechanical or misused. Phrases like 'in the dinner time period were the maximum number of people consumed' are grammatically awkward and impede the flow of information. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to track which nutrient or meal is being discussed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence logically follows the previous one would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'intake much more' instead of 'excessive intake' and 'comparatively same percent taken'. These errors occasionally make the meaning unclear. The student relies on basic vocabulary to describe the data, which restricts the ability to provide a sophisticated analysis. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to data description, such as 'proportion', 'consumption', 'significant', and 'marginal', while ensuring these words are used in the correct context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains a high frequency of grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, sentence structure, and preposition usage. For example, 'three various of nutrients' is incorrect, and 'all the three types of nutrients were consumed exceed in the dinner time' is syntactically flawed. While the student attempts to use complex sentence structures, these are often poorly formed, leading to a lack of clarity. The majority of sentences contain errors that, while not completely preventing communication, require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would be beneficial.
