Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying key trends such as the high sodium intake at dinner and the peak in added sugars at snack time. However, the analysis is somewhat superficial. For instance, while you mention that saturated fats and added sugars share a 16% value at breakfast, you fail to compare these figures effectively against other meal times or provide a more comprehensive overview of the data. The summary is accurate but lacks the depth required for a higher band, as some data points are presented in isolation rather than being synthesized into a clear, comparative report.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'To start with', 'To conclude'). There are also issues with referencing; for example, the phrase 'most all three nutrients' is awkward and unclear. While the progression of ideas is generally logical, the lack of sophisticated linking words and occasional awkward transitions between sentences prevent the response from achieving a higher score in this criterion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic phrasing such as 'take most of the sodium' and 'eaten at morning time'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'if taken in large amount' (should be 'amounts') and 'most all three nutrients'. To improve, you should aim to use more precise academic vocabulary related to data description, such as 'consumption', 'proportion', and 'constitute', rather than repeating 'eaten' or 'taken'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Issues include missing articles ('in USA' instead of 'in the USA'), incorrect verb forms ('if taken' instead of 'if taken'), and punctuation errors (e.g., 'And least amount' starting a sentence with a capital letter mid-sentence). While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors, particularly with articles and subject-verb agreement, limits the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy.
