Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying key trends such as the high sodium/fat in dinner and high sugar in snacks. However, the report lacks precision in data presentation. For instance, the phrase 'very mild' is vague and does not accurately describe the percentages provided. Furthermore, the description of the data is occasionally confusing, such as when you state 'In the other hand it rises significantly in lunch with 29%, 26% and 19% for all three', without clearly linking these figures to the specific nutrients. To improve, ensure that every data point mentioned is explicitly linked to its corresponding category to avoid ambiguity.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, moving from an overview to specific details. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'In the other hand' is a misuse of the phrase 'On the other hand', and 'fast part of the day' is an awkward transition. While the progression of ideas is generally clear, the referencing is occasionally imprecise, making it difficult for the reader to follow which nutrient corresponds to which percentage without constant re-reading. Improving the variety and accuracy of linking words would enhance the flow significantly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision required for higher bands. There are several word choice errors, such as 'snakes' instead of 'snacks', 'good number of' instead of 'high proportion of', and 'less amount' instead of 'lower amount'. These errors occasionally impede the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise academic vocabulary (e.g., 'proportion', 'intake', 'consumption') and ensure correct collocations. The current range is sufficient to convey the basic meaning but lacks the flexibility and sophistication expected at the 7.0+ level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('In the charts below compares', 'Breakfast it contain'), incorrect prepositions, and awkward phrasing ('the less amount of the three meals'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these errors are persistent. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement and article usage. Increasing the frequency of error-free sentences is necessary to move toward a higher band score.
