Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response successfully identifies the main features of the data and provides relevant comparisons across the three nutrient categories. You have clearly highlighted the highest and lowest percentages for each nutrient, which is essential for a Task 1 response. However, the final sentence of the conclusion includes a personal recommendation ('people should be carefull about eating to much of these foods'), which is not required in an Academic Task 1 report. Academic Task 1 requires an objective summary of the data provided, not advice or opinions. To reach a higher band, ensure your conclusion remains strictly focused on summarizing the key trends observed in the charts.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs for each nutrient, and a summary conclusion. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different categories. You have used some cohesive devices, such as 'Overall', 'Looking at', and 'In term of', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'In term of' (should be 'In terms of'). The flow is generally smooth, but more varied linking words would improve the overall coherence and make the progression of ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the data, including terms like 'accounts for', 'represents', and 'proportion'. There are some minor errors in word choice and form, such as 'souce' (source) and 'carefull' (careful). Additionally, the phrase 'at same 14%' is slightly unnatural; 'at the same 14%' or 'both at 14%' would be more accurate. While the vocabulary is adequate for the task, incorporating more precise academic collocations would elevate the response. The range is sufficient for the task, but the occasional spelling and collocation errors prevent it from reaching a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The three pie charts illustrates', 'Dinner contain', 'snacks has'), and punctuation errors, such as the unnecessary capitalization of 'Whereas'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization. You have attempted to use complex structures, but the accuracy needs to be more consistent to achieve a higher band score. Ensure you proofread your work to catch these basic errors.
