Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the nutrients and comparing their proportions across the four meal types. You successfully highlighted the main features, such as the high levels of sodium and saturated fat at dinner and the peak of added sugar in snacks. However, the introduction is slightly flawed; the phrase 'if we consumed so much than it may be harmful' is an unnecessary subjective comment that does not belong in an objective data summary. To improve, ensure your overview focuses strictly on the data trends rather than providing health advice. The data points are generally accurate, but the structure could be more analytical by grouping trends rather than listing percentages for each meal individually.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized with a clear introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to specific meals. You use some cohesive devices like 'In terms of,' 'Regarding,' and 'With regards to' to transition between ideas. However, the progression within paragraphs is somewhat mechanical, relying heavily on repetitive sentence structures. The use of 'respectively' in the breakfast section is slightly misused as it does not clearly link back to two distinct subjects in the way intended. To reach a higher band, try to vary your cohesive devices and ensure that the flow between sentences feels more natural and less like a list of data points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion,' 'nutrients,' and 'illustrate.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is significant repetition of phrases such as 'percentage of' and 'higher than others.' The word choice is generally functional but lacks the sophistication or precision required for higher bands. For instance, instead of repeating 'higher than others,' you could use 'predominate' or 'account for the largest share.' There are no major spelling errors, but the vocabulary remains at a basic level, which restricts the potential for a higher score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is clear, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'if we consumed so much than it may be harmful' contains a tense error and a misuse of 'than' instead of 'that.' Additionally, there are minor punctuation issues and awkward phrasing, such as 'in terms of dinner meal.' While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that complex sentences are constructed with correct conjunctions and prepositions.
