Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully identified the main features of the charts and provided relevant comparisons. You covered all four meal types and the three nutrient categories. However, the report is somewhat descriptive and lacks a more analytical approach to the data. For instance, while you mention that dinner has the highest percentages, you could have more effectively highlighted the contrast between the high sodium content in dinner versus the high added sugar content in snacks. The overview is clear, but the body paragraphs could benefit from more sophisticated grouping of data to better illustrate the trends rather than just listing figures for each meal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is logically organized, with a clear introduction, overview, and body paragraphs dedicated to specific meals. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In terms of', 'According to', and 'With regards to', which help the flow. However, the transition between sentences can feel a bit mechanical, and some of the referencing is repetitive. To improve, try to vary your linking phrases and ensure that the progression of ideas feels more natural. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be tighter to improve the overall flow of information.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'nutrients', and 'illustrate' correctly. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'percentage' and 'lower/higher than others'. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more varied synonyms and precise collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'percentage', you could use 'levels', 'figures', or 'proportions'. Additionally, ensure that your comparisons are more precise; phrases like 'lower than others' are vague when you could specify which nutrient or meal you are comparing against.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is generally effective. There are some minor grammatical slips, such as 'the average proportion in standard meals of three types of nutrients' (which is slightly awkward) and 'which is highest as compared to other nutrients' (which is a bit wordy). Punctuation is generally accurate, and your meaning is always clear. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex grammatical structures, such as relative clauses or participle phrases, to enhance the sophistication of your writing while maintaining accuracy.
