Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the charts and provided relevant comparisons. You covered all four meal categories and the three nutrient types. However, the report could be improved by grouping the data more effectively to highlight key trends rather than listing figures meal by meal. For instance, noting that sodium is the dominant nutrient in dinner and lunch, while added sugar peaks in snacks, would provide a more analytical overview. The data is generally accurate, though the description of the dinner figures is slightly confusing, as you state sodium is 'under 50%' while the chart shows it is clearly the highest component, which is a good observation, but the phrasing could be more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is logically organized with a clear introduction and separate paragraphs for different meals. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices like 'Overall', 'According to', and 'Regarding', which help the flow. However, the transition between sentences within paragraphs is sometimes a bit mechanical. For example, the repeated use of 'which is' to introduce clauses makes the sentences feel somewhat repetitive. Improving the variety of your linking phrases and using more sophisticated referencing would help the text flow more naturally and elevate the score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'proportion', 'nutrients', and 'significantly higher'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat repetitive, particularly the frequent use of 'percentage' and 'others'. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied synonyms and collocations, such as 'figures', 'proportions', 'levels', or 'intake'. There are no major spelling errors, and the vocabulary used is appropriate for the context, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the grammar is generally accurate and communication is not impeded, there are some minor errors and awkward phrasings. For example, 'the percentage of sodium is less than 30%, which is highest as compared to other nutrients' is slightly clunky. Additionally, 'significantly much higher' is redundant; you should use either 'significantly higher' or 'much higher'. To improve, focus on reducing redundant modifiers and ensuring that your complex sentences are constructed with greater precision.
