Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the highest and lowest consumption levels for each nutrient. However, the analysis is somewhat mechanical and lacks a clear, cohesive structure. While you have selected relevant data, the presentation is fragmented, and the final sentence is incomplete, which hinders the overall task completion. To improve, ensure you group data logically—perhaps by meal type or by nutrient—rather than listing figures in isolation. Additionally, ensure that all sentences are complete and that you provide a clear overview that synthesizes the trends rather than just listing individual percentages.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The response is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'However' and 'Moreover', but they are sometimes used incorrectly or in a way that does not enhance the logical progression of ideas. The paragraphing is present but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison of the three nutrients across the four meal types. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear thematic focus would significantly improve the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You frequently repeat words like 'consumption', 'consumed', and 'percentage'. There are also some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'sodium consumption is very less' (should be 'much lower') and 'exactly same' (should be 'the same'). To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of synonyms and more sophisticated phrasing to describe trends, such as 'account for', 'constitute', or 'a significant proportion'. The incomplete sentence at the end also detracts from the overall lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include incorrect capitalization (e.g., 'Sodium', 'Whereas'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing. For example, 'followed by both saturated fat and sugar is consumed very less' is grammatically incorrect and confusing. There are also punctuation errors, such as the space before the comma in 'Overall ,'. The sentence structure is often repetitive, and the final sentence is cut off, which is a significant error. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will help improve your accuracy.
