Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the main features of the three charts. You successfully highlight the key trends, such as dinner being the primary source of sodium and saturated fats, and snacks being the main source of added sugar. However, the overview is slightly inaccurate; you state that sodium, saturated fats, and added sugars are 'most in the dinner meal', which is incorrect for added sugar, where snacks are the highest. This leads to a slight over-generalisation. To improve, ensure your overview accurately reflects the data for all categories mentioned.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific nutrient. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Coming to', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or informal, such as 'Coming to saturated fats' and 'as usual the dinner'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the data points more smoothly rather than listing them sequentially.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'nutrients', 'excessive amount', and 'comprises'. However, there are some word choice issues and awkward phrasing, such as 'most in the dinner meal' instead of 'highest in the dinner meal' and 'the rest of all comes from'. The repetition of 'about' and 'around' to describe percentages is noticeable. To reach a higher band, try to vary your reporting verbs and adjectives, and ensure collocations are more precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are several grammatical errors throughout the text. For example, 'The pie charts illustrates' (subject-verb agreement), 'then followed by' (incorrect usage), and 'Snacks and breakfast contains' (subject-verb agreement). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures. While you attempt some complex sentences, they often contain errors, such as the sentence fragment 'Which comprises about 42% in snacks.' Improving your control over subject-verb agreement and punctuation will significantly enhance your score. Focus on ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
