Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response covers the main features of the charts, identifying the highest consumption areas for each nutrient. However, the analysis is somewhat repetitive and lacks precision in reporting the data. For instance, stating that sodium is '14 percent' in breakfast and snacks is accurate, but the description of the dinner figures is vague ('major amount'). To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific comparative data from the charts rather than relying on general descriptors. The overview is present but could be more effectively synthesised to highlight the key trends across all three nutrients more clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Phrases like 'Apart from these' and 'Similarly' are used, but the logical progression is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the sentence 'while Added sugar in the form of snacks', which lacks a verb. Referencing is generally clear, but the overall cohesion would benefit from a more sophisticated use of linking words to connect the data points more fluidly rather than listing them in a repetitive manner.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'large amounts', 'major amount', and 'same amount'. There is also some awkward phrasing, such as 'in the form of snacks' used repeatedly and 'in shape of snacks'. To improve, you should aim to use more precise collocations related to data reporting, such as 'the highest proportion', 'a significant percentage', or 'the lowest intake'. The repetition of 'amount' and 'consumed' limits the range of your lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are several grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of the text. For example, 'in being eaten' is incorrect; it should be 'is eaten'. There are also issues with articles and prepositions, such as 'in USA' (should be 'in the USA') and 'in shape of snacks' (should be 'in the form of snacks'). While you attempt some complex sentence structures, they are often marred by these inaccuracies. A greater focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles would significantly improve the clarity and accuracy of your writing.
