Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response covers all parts of the task by identifying the three nutrients and their consumption across four meal categories. You have successfully highlighted the main features, such as sodium and saturated fat peaking at dinner, and added sugar peaking at snacks. However, the report lacks a clear overview that synthesizes the data effectively; the opening sentence is slightly inaccurate regarding the 'four times a day' claim, as the charts represent typical meal proportions rather than frequency. To improve, ensure your overview highlights the most significant trends rather than just listing facts, and ensure data accuracy when interpreting the charts.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with each nutrient discussed in its own section. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'Thirdly' to sequence your points. However, the flow is somewhat mechanical, and some transitions are awkward, such as 'in contrast 21% taken in snacks'. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing could be improved by grouping the information more fluidly rather than relying on a rigid list-like structure. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would elevate the coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely heavily on basic verbs like 'consumed', 'taken', and 'popular'. There are also some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'three type of nutrients' (should be 'types') and 'in united states' (needs an article). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to data description, such as 'account for', 'constitute', 'predominate', or 'a significant proportion'. Expanding your range of synonyms will help you avoid repetition and demonstrate better control over academic language.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Issues include missing articles ('in united states'), subject-verb agreement errors ('breakfast and snacks is parallel'), and punctuation mistakes, such as comma splices in the introduction. While the meaning remains clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammar, specifically articles, pluralization, and sentence boundaries, to ensure your writing is more polished and accurate.
