Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the score. While the report identifies the main features of the three nutrients, the analysis is purely descriptive and lacks a clear overview or summary of the data trends. The information is presented as a list of figures rather than a cohesive report, and the lack of a concluding summary or synthesis of the data means the task is only partially addressed. To improve, you must include an introductory overview that highlights the most significant trends and ensure the response meets the minimum length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response lacks paragraphing, which makes it difficult to follow. The text is essentially a single block of information. While there are some attempts at cohesive devices such as 'whereas', 'on the other hand', and 'meanwhile', they are used repetitively and mechanically. The progression of ideas is disjointed because the data is presented in a list-like fashion without clear logical grouping or transitions between the different nutrients. To improve, you should organize your report into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group related data points logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You frequently use the same phrases, such as 'the amount of' and 'the ratio of', which makes the writing monotonous. There is little attempt to use a range of vocabulary to describe trends or comparisons. For example, instead of repeating 'amount', you could use terms like 'proportion', 'contribution', or 'intake'. The word 'another' is used incorrectly in the phrase 'The another category'. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of synonyms and more precise collocations related to data reporting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response consists almost entirely of simple, repetitive sentence structures. There is a lack of complex sentence forms, and the punctuation is poor, with many run-on sentences and missing commas (e.g., '...in breakfast the amount of added sugar is 16% whereas in lunch the ratio of added sugar is 19% on the other hand in dinner...'). This lack of punctuation makes the text difficult to read. To improve, you need to practice using complex structures, such as relative clauses or subordinating conjunctions, and ensure that your sentences are correctly punctuated to separate distinct ideas.
