Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers the main features of the charts and makes relevant comparisons. You have identified the highest and lowest consumption points for each nutrient. However, the overview is somewhat weak; it mentions that most nutrients are consumed at dinner, but it fails to highlight the distinct contrast between the nutrients (e.g., sugar peaking at snacks versus sodium/fat peaking at dinner). The data reporting is generally accurate, though the use of terms like 'gradually' and 'rapidly' to describe data points is incorrect, as these words describe trends over time, not static percentages. To improve, ensure your overview captures the most significant differences between the three categories.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific nutrient. You use transition words like 'Firstly,' 'Secondly,' and 'Moreover' to guide the reader. However, the cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear. For example, the phrase 'these meals consumed added sugar sequentially' is confusing because the data does not show a sequence or progression. Additionally, the connection between sentences could be smoother; some sentences feel like a list of statistics rather than a cohesive analysis. Improving the variety of cohesive devices and ensuring they are used to link ideas logically rather than just marking a new point would improve this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks precision. There are several spelling errors ('diffrent', 'catagories', 'satuated', 'nutriants') and awkward word choices, such as 'commoners' to refer to people in the USA. The use of 'gradually' and 'rapidly' to describe percentages is a misuse of vocabulary, as these words imply a change over time. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise terminology for data reporting, such as 'accounted for,' 'constituted,' or 'the highest proportion,' and ensure you proofread for basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('these all are can be highly affected'), incorrect preposition usage ('regarding for Saturated fat'), and awkward phrasing ('which rate is 43%'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement around percentages. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and avoiding overly complex structures until you have mastered basic accuracy would be beneficial.
