The charts below show the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients, all of which may be unhealthy if eaten too much.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

Student answer (Band 6.5)

The provided pie charts compare the proportion of different types of nutrients in four different meals, all of which may be detrimental if consumed too much.

Overall, it is evident that comparatively low percentage of nutrients were consumed in breakfast, whereas dinner includes the highest proportion of sodium and saturated fat. Interestingly, snacks include the highest ratio of added sugar, rather than sodium and saturated fat.

Looking first at dinner, it contained the highest amount of sodium and saturated fat, which accounted for 43% and 37% respectively. However, it only include 23% of added sugar. Additionally, breakfast is considered as the lightest meal with only 14% of sodium and 16% each for saturated fat and added sugar.

Turning to the snacks, only 14% of sodium and 21% of saturated fat are included. However, it contained the highest proportion of added sugar, which stood at 42%. Furthermore, lunch accounted for 29% of sodium, 26% of saturated fat and 19% of added sugar, making it a balanced meal.
