Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student covers all parts of the task by reporting the main features of the three charts regarding sodium, saturated fat, and added sugar across four meal categories. An overview is provided at the beginning and end of the response. However, there are some data inaccuracies and confusion in the body paragraphs. For instance, the text states that snacks contained '14% of sugar and 21% of saturated fat' when describing the 42% sugar statistic, which misrepresents the figures or is poorly phrased. Furthermore, the phrasing 'three time meals, a day' and minor data reporting slips prevent the response from achieving a higher band. Overall, the main trends are identified, supporting a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The response is arranged coherently with a clear introduction, body paragraphs dealing with specific breakdowns, and a summary conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to group ideas. However, the progression is occasionally disrupted by awkward cohesive devices and mechanical referencing, such as 'Regarding other meals' and 'Furthermore, the nutrients proportions in lunch-29%'. Cohesive devices are sometimes inadequate or inaccurate (e.g., missing verbs in clauses like 'conatined 14% of sugar'). Overall arrangement is logical, but the management of cohesion warrants a Band 6.0.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student attempts less common vocabulary such as 'accumulation', 'enormouse', and 'constitute', but demonstrates noticeable spelling and word choice errors (e.g., 'enormouse' instead of 'enormous', 'conatined' instead of 'contained', 'volum' instead of 'volume'). The range is adequate for the task, allowing the student to convey basic comparisons, but vocabulary errors and inappropriate collocations ('unhealthy for health') restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is quite weak. There are several major errors, including sentence fragments ('Furthermore, the nutrients proportions in lunch-29%...'), missing verbs, and incorrect prepositions ('in three time meals, a day in USA'). Punctuation and article usage also show frequent lapses (e.g., 'the large volume', 'high amount of sugar accumulation in body'). These frequent errors can occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, placing this response firmly at Band 5.0.
