Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, coming in at only 126 words, which results in a direct penalty to Task Achievement. While the student attempts to report some of the data from the charts (such as identifying breakfast as the lowest for sodium and saturated fat at 14% and 16%, and dinner as the highest for sodium at 43%), the information is presented in a very fragmented, disjointed manner. Important comparisons are either incomplete or missing entirely, and the final sentence trails off unfinished ("dinner and luch wawere too much eate"). Overall, the data selection is partial, and the response is underdeveloped, aligning closely with Band 4.0 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text lacks clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs consist of broken, ungrammatical sentences rather than cohesive units of thought. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused (e.g., abrupt transitions like "And the other type dinner"), making it very difficult for the reader to follow the relationship between ideas. Referencing is frequently unclear, and the overall arrangement of information is disjointed. This level of organisation corresponds to a Band 4.0 for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice errors that strain the reader's understanding. Phrases like "food eaten to much different places" and "value was minmum" demonstrate a very limited control of lexical items. The student struggles with basic terminology related to the charts, often misusing words (e.g., using "places" to refer to meal types like breakfast and dinner). Spelling errors and awkward phrasing are pervasive throughout the text. These features reflect the Band 4.0 descriptor for Lexical Resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. There is a very limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex or compound structures result in severe errors, such as "minmum same vital breakfast eaten too much in USA was 16%." Punctuation is faulty, and verbs are frequently missing or conjugated incorrectly (e.g., "luch wawere too much eate"). These frequent errors frequently distort meaning and cause significant difficulty for the reader, placing the response squarely at Band 4.0.
