Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the task only partially, and additionally, the length requirement is not met as the text falls short of the 150-word minimum at 146 words. The student attempts to outline key figures from the charts, such as the high sodium and saturated fat percentages for dinner and the peak for added sugar in snacks. However, the selection of data is somewhat disorganized, and certain trends are only partially explored. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to ensure the word count requirement is fully met, present a clearer overview of the main trends without getting bogged down in disjointed details, and extend the comparisons between the three nutrients more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organization with paragraphs attempting to separate different meals and nutrients, but there is no clear overall progression. The relationship between sentences is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions, mechanical referencing, and an incomplete concluding sentence ("we have seen in nd usage of all three nutrients"). Cohesive devices are either inadequate or inaccurate. To improve, the writer should structure the response logically with a clear introduction, body paragraphs with distinct comparative focuses, and a coherent overview, avoiding abrupt or unfinished concluding remarks.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms that occasionally cause difficulty for the reader. Examples of lexical issues include "perpotions" instead of proportions, "unheathly", "ampilfy", "comparksionof", and "suggar". Less common vocabulary is attempted with frequent inaccuracy. To achieve a higher band score, the student must expand their vocabulary range, use precise terms for data description, and pay closer attention to standard spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple or poorly constructed complex forms. Frequent grammatical errors occur throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement, missing articles, incorrect prepositions, and non-standard verb forms, such as "Sodium have 43% use in dinner" and "all three nutrients remains steady just slighty difference". These frequent errors cause some difficulty and strain for the reader. To improve, the writer needs to increase sentence variety and maintain strict control over basic grammatical rules, tense consistency, and punctuation.
