Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses the task partially, covering the main features of the charts, but contains inaccuracies and under-developed descriptions. The overview states that breakfast has the most balanced amount, but misses the broader comparative trends across meals. Some figures are misreported or expressed confusingly, such as describing sodium in breakfast as 'a roughly half of one-third' and stating that dinner has 'amount of 43' for sodium without clear units. While the main categories of nutrients and meal times are mentioned, the lack of precision and unclear reporting prevent the response from achieving a higher level.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear division into an introduction and body paragraphs. However, progression is sometimes hindered by awkward transitions and mechanical cohesive devices like 'to start with', 'afterwards', and 'further more'. Referencing is occasionally unclear, making it harder to follow the exact comparison between data points. Paragraphing is present, but internal logical flow between sentences needs to be smoother to achieve clearer overall progression.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is minimally adequate for the task, with noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'reaveals', 'contais', and 'respectievely'. There are also awkward phrasings like 'one-twenty' and 'four-tenth total usage' which reveal an attempt to use varied numerical expressions with limited precision and control. While the basic topic vocabulary relating to meals and nutrients is present, these lexical slips and lack of precision restrict the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a very limited range of sentence structures, relying heavily on simple clauses with frequent structural errors in complex attempts. There are noticeable grammatical issues throughout, including subject-verb agreement errors like 'Breakfast contais', missing articles such as 'in lunch', and awkward prepositional or phrasal patterns like 'sodium has amount of 43'. These frequent errors require the reader to slow down and occasionally cause difficulty in fully understanding the intended meaning.
